Ear cropping is a cosmetic surgical procedure performed by a licensed veterinarian, typically between 7–12 weeks of age when cartilage is still developing. During the procedure, a portion of the ear is reshaped to stand erect during healing.
This procedure has historically been associated with guardian and working breeds, including the Giant Schnauzer.

At Opulent Giant Schnauzers, we fully support both options. Leaving ears natural does not impact health intelligence, or loyalty. Cropped ears REQUIRE a commitment to proper aftercare to achieve the desired look.

We do not perform ear cropping ourselves and never require ear cropping. AGAIN, its a personal preference. Families considering this option should consult directly with their veterinarian for guidance. After surgery, ears go through healing phase before they are ready to stand. Stitches are removed within 7-14 days, depending on veterinarian guidance. Following healing posting is REQUIRED to support proper ear carriage.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE POSTING PROCESS
Ear posting is a normal and necessary part of the ear cropping process. Once the ears have healed, they must be supported so the cartilage can strengthen in the desired position.
Posting can take several weeks to several months, depending on:
- The puppy’s age at cropping
- Ear thickness and crop length
- Consistency of posting
- Individual healing response
Missed or inconsistent posting may result in ears not standing as intended. Owners choosing ear cropping should be prepared for the time, patience, and follow-through required.

Ear Cropping Payment Policy
To avoid payment disputes and chargebacks, ear cropping payments are handled outside of online checkout and are accepted through secure, direct payment methods only.

Ear cropping is an optional cosmetic procedure performed by a licensed veterinarian. By submitting payment, you acknowledge and agree to the payment terms and responsibility for all aftercare once the puppy leaves our care.
